Marketing the City
Capital City Partnership’s marketing efforts, in partnership with Culture, Inc., include the development and management of initiatives, events, and infrastructure that reinforce the city’s established brand, create an inviting environment, and provide a unique, urban experience. These focused efforts enhance the downtown experience and cross-promote and drive traffic to Saint Paul’s main attractions and venues.

Infrastructure Initiatives
One of Capital City Partnership’s top priorities is to revitalize and enliven the health and spirit of downtown Saint Paul by helping to foster urban design and community economic development through infrastructure projects that will enhance the downtown vitality of the Capital City. Infrastructure projects are the differentiator that make the city more inviting and reinforce the established Saint Paul brand.

Capital City Partnership partners with the City of Saint Paul to leverage public and private investments to beautify public spaces and provide services that build and enrich the community. Capital City Partnership contributes and raises the funds to purchase the flowers and lights, and the City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department install and maintain them.

Capital City Flower Program – established in 1999 in partnership with the City to beautify the streetscapes of downtown. Over 250 cascading flower baskets line the streets of downtown each year, and are part of the larger “Blooming Saint Paul” beautification program dedicated to improve the physical environment and aesthetics of Saint Paul.

Capital City Lights Program - sets the city aglow with white, twinkling lights decorating the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods each winter.

Wabasha Freedom Bridge American Flags - welcomes people as they enter Minnesota’s Capital City. The patriotic flags are a reminder of the sacrifices our veterans made to keep our nation free, and are a fitting reminder of their service and our gratitude.

Saint Paul Sister Cities Program - Saint Paul’s Sister Cities Program has been in existence since 1955, and currently includes 11 Sister Cities. The Sister Cities Program is a diplomacy network that strives to further global exchanges at all levels of the community promoting meaningful cultural, educational, municipal, and economic interactions.

Capital City Partnership has led the administration of the Saint Paul Sister Cities Program since 2006 in close partnership with the City of Saint Paul. An Advisory Committee was formed to implement a four-year Strategic Plan that includes creating a new website, coordinating delegation trips to Sister Cities, and providing gifts.

“Today’s global and economic challenges require innovative public/private partnerships to provide resources and leadership. I appreciate the value, rewards, and responsibilities
of being good corporate citizens, and enhancing our community’s quality of life. I believe that economic development and community development are complementary halves of a quality of life circle.”
