State Office Space
For over 100 years, an engaged city government and enthusiastic public/private partnerships have led this flourishing city. Saint Paul is the seat of City, County and State government and is home to nearly 13,000 State employees, out of 40,000 total State employees. The city of Saint Paul is the center of political influence in Minnesota and instills a proud spirit in its citizens.
The State of Minnesota leases significant commercial, multi-tenant office buildings in downtown Saint Paul. The State of Minnesota alone leases 2,149,000 sq. ft. of space from the private sector in Saint Paul.

A key ingredient to the continued economic growth in Saint Paul is the State of Minnesota, which completed a $250 million expansion in 2005, including two new State office buildings and a lab building (above inset). These buildings added 900,000 sq. ft., relocated 1,000 additional state employees to the Capital City, and helped link the Capitol Campus to the downtown Central Business District.
